This morning I wanted to share with you a couple of prayers I found from John Wesley that were worth copying into my journal word for word:
“O God, I give you my affections: my love, my fear, my joy. What you love may I love. What displeases you, may it displease me. I give you my body. May I glorify you with it, and preserve it holy, fit for you to dwell in. May I neither indulge it, nor abuse it, but keep it healthy, vigorous, and active and fit to serve you with all my heart. Amen.”
“Glory to you, O Blessed Spirit, who comes to us from the Father and the Son. You came down in tongues of fire on the apostles on the first day of the week, enabling them to preach the good news of salvation to a sinful world. Now move in my heart and among your people, as you once moved over the face of the great deep. Bring us all out of that dark chaos into newness of resurrection life, through Christ our Lord. Amen.”
May you go about this day aware that your body is a temple and that God’s Holy Spirit dwells within it.
Grace and Peace
